PIQ is part of the “Agence de Programmes Numérique”, does it have a thematic focus?
The scope of PIQ covers digital science and technology in the broadest sense (computer science, mathematics, robotics, automation, etc.). The Digital Programmes Agency’s programmes are defined by a vision and by a management system guided by this vision. PIQ differs from the Agency’s other programmes in that this vision is not defined by a given theme, but involves a particular way of conducting research projects, characterised by risk-taking and the quest for impact.
What are the outcomes of the targeted projects?
PIQ is not prescriptive about the type of project outputs it targets. These may include: scientific and technological results, proposals for the creation of research teams, the creation of start-ups, the creation of new reference software, proposals for European projects, ERCs, EICs, proposals for GDRs, etc.
Is a PIQ project necessarily interdisciplinary?
No, PIQ does not prescribe whether projects should be interdisciplinary or not.
How long does a PIQ project last?
From six months to four years. Extensions may be considered in some cases.
Can I submit my unsuccessful ERC proposal to PIQ?
Yes, and it is also possible to resubmit to the ERC after having been able to clarify the subject thanks to the first stages of the PIQ project (and to exit the PIQ programme if you are successful at the ERC).
